Q3 REFLECTIONS: A PROPTECH SONNET
By: Drew Meyers

[Note: I'm no poet, so had a little fun with ChatGPT to write a poem to highlight the start of Q3 earnings season. Generated with ChatGPT.]

The autumn calls—earnings unfold once more,
Zillow’s whispers echo, a cautious refrain.
CoStar stands steady, guarding its store,
While Rocket’s pulse slows beneath higher-rate rain.

The GEM Proptech Index hums in between,
Where faith and fear in tandem trade blows.
Startups dream digital, sharp, and lean,
Yet capital chills as the cold wind grows.

Each chart tells tales of promise delayed,
Margins trimmed where ambition once soared.
But still the builders, the coders, the staid,
Press “refresh,” for what data restored.

For Q3’s truth is neither boom nor bust—
Just markets learning whom they can trust.

First earnings summaries are complete: ❇️Zillow❇️, ❇️CoStar❇️, and ❇️Rocket❇️.

ANOTHER WAY TO CONNECT WITH GEMINEERS
By: Drew Meyers

We have a new way for GEM members to be connected with other members: Boardythe AI superconnector I previously highlighted. I've since connected with a few additional folks via the service, some of which I expect will end up joining GEM. Boardy now offers communities a way to leverage its matchmaking capabilities to connect members, and they created a GEM community for us.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Click the WhatsApp link and send Boardy the pre-filled message.
  2. Have a quick 3-5 min call with Boardy. Once you provide your LinkedIn and email, Boardy will give you a quick call to learn about you, what you’re working on, and who you’d love to meet.
  3. Get matched. Boardy will suggest relevant members to connect with. If you both say yes, he’ll make a warm intro via email and WhatsApp — and even give you some context to spark the conversation.

While you are of course welcome to use Boardy individually, please join GEM Diamond to access the private code to use to connect with proptech execs within GEM.

SUPERSONICING ACROSS THE POND
By: Drew Meyers

When I hear/read anything related to SuperSonic...the Seattle SuperSonics' (RIP) Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, and crew competing in the 1996 NBA Finals against Michael Jordan come to mind. But, there's another reference: Boom is building the first civil supersonic jet made in America. Flying at Mach 1.7, it markets New York to London flight time of three hours and forty minutes, compared to seven hours and five minutes currently. The company is aiming for commercial passenger flights by 2029, with its Overture aircraft expected to have its first flight in 2026.

Beyond the obvious "cool tech" factor, fractional second home ownership stands to see a significant bump in activity from supersonic flights being a reality. Airbnb will aggregate even more demand as travelers are persuaded to venture further from home.
