WEEKLY RADAR #396: GEM Media Directory, Dallas friendship week

WEEKLY RADAR #396: GEM Media Directory, Dallas friendship week
Innovators Dinner in Dallas 4/9/2026

Big news this week…we released v1 of the GEM Media Directory, a resource of trades, reporters and podcasts covering the PropTech and Real Estate industry. Members asked for help with PR and marketing - so we thought we should deliver.

We can hardly wait for the inaugural GEM Symposium this week, an event designed to bring founders and operators together to address the challenges, tactics, wins and failures of building their business. No BS, just confidential conversations designed to remove barriers. Join fellow tech leaders in Seattle, and learn from a proven entrepreneur Ben Kinney, founder of PLACE.

Another week connecting founders and operators with the support, relationships, and resources they need. Thanks to everyone who came out for the Dallas Innovators Dinner and the Denver Proptech Happy hour.

GEM UPDATES

NEW MEMBER RESOURCE: THE GEM MEDIA DIRECTORY IS LIVE
By: Jesse Wright

One of the most common asks we hear from founders in this community: "How do I get media/press coverage for what we're building?" We heard you.

The GEM Media Directory is now available inside the platform — a curated, vetted list of the publications, newsletters, and podcasts that matter in PropTech, Housing, ConTech, and CRE tech. We're talking Inman, HousingWire, The Real Deal, GlobeSt., Bisnow, Propmodo, The Propcast, Tech Nest, and 25+ more — organized by contact, beat, and outreach priority so you're not cold-emailing a general inbox and hoping for the best (don’t do that!).

What's in it:

  • First name, last name, and direct contact info for editors, reporters, and podcast hosts
  • Each contact's specific beat and reporting sectors

This isn't a list scraped off the internet. It's research into who's covering the space, open to pitches. The goal is crowd-sourcing a Muck Rack-like resource, but specific to the verticals GEM serves. And at a far more affordable rate (included with membership).

DALLAS FRIENDSHIP WEEK
By: Drew Meyers

Those I have spoken with recently know I've been reflecting on deep friendship. On that front, I prioritized friendship and being present over non-stop work this week in Dallas (part of reason GEM content is light). A few days with a best friend's family (she has four girls) once or twice a year is a regular part of my annual travel schedule. That time grounds me in the exact right way, every time. A Mariners-Rangers day game, kid's soccer games, volleyball practice in the street, babysitting, kid drop off and pick ups, and Top Golf were among the personal activities. I can tell you, without question, my Dallas trips are worth every minute and dollar invested in my relationship with the person who holds my entire truth—even if there was no business reason to be there.

That said, there is always a business reason to be in Dallas given the strong membership base we have there. Tuesday, Ishtyaq Ahmed, Bill Fowler, Meagan Zeman, and I watched the Dallas Stars beat the Calgary Flames in an overtime thriller, the most exciting hockey game I've ever watched.

On Thursday, was the latest Innovators Roundtable Dinner at Encina. Thank you to everyone who attended: K.C. Cleary, Daniel Butbul, Michele Combs, Sam Westelman, Kris Cone, Kurt Carlton, Rachel Wilka, Bill Fowler, Ishtyaq Ahmed, Steven McCord, Jeff Hickey, Henry Talamantes, Meagan Zemen, and Jim McCaffrey (see the pic at the top!)

Bottom line: Your "close/best friend" support network is a superpower professionally. Invest in those people every chance you get—read Ben Wright recent ❇️Transmission if you have any question about the ROI❇️.
